Rigging
Basic rigging
These workshops offer a deep dive into 3D animation tailored specifically for the industry’s needs. They include live talks, demos, reviews, and assignments mirroring a real production pipeline. You’ll start with an introduction to Maya’s features for creating complex character rigs, designed to be animator-friendly without requiring prior rigging or scripting knowledge. Then, you’ll advance to learning advanced tools and techniques from experienced character riggers.
The second part of the workshop focuses on character rig deformations and skinning, essential for bringing characters to life in games. You’ll gain a solid understanding of rigging principles and pipeline workflows, building upon the skills learned in Rigging Fundamentals. By the end of the class, you’ll be equipped to create complete character rigs ready for use in animation production
These workshops provide a comprehensive foundation in 3D animation rig, preparing you for the specific demands of the industry. Whether you’re new to rigging or looking to enhance your skills, this program offers valuable insights and practical knowledge to help you succeed in animation industry.
Advance rigging
In this workshop, students will dive deeper into rigging principles and the pipeline used for creating character rigs, focusing particularly on building a robust facial rig. In the second part of the workshop, they will continue with facial animation and explore the possibilities of creating tools using Python.
The instructor will cover topics such as plug-ins and automating workflows for riggers. Starting with a standard quadruped setup, students will learn to create a 3-bone IK leg, a horizontal spine setup, and a neck with FK/IK switching capabilities. Moving on to a bat, they will explore setting up wings and claws. Finally, they will work with a fantasy creature, learning advanced techniques for tail rigging, dynamic joint chains, and using nCloth solvers.
By the end of the class, students will be equipped to design rigs for any creature, whether real or imagined. This comprehensive workshop provides practical knowledge and hands-on experience in rigging, preparing students to tackle a wide range of character rigging challenges in the game industry and beyond.
